"Literature is my Utopia. Here I am not disenfranchised. No barrier of the senses shuts me out from the sweet, gracious discourses of my book friends. They talk to me without embarrassment or awkwardness." -Helen Keller

If so, could you or your followers please recommend a similar book with themes of consumerism, the detrimental effects of technology, fear (particularly a fear of death), mortality and obsession with appearances (physical and otherwise)? I would be so grateful for any help; I've looked everywhere to no avail for books to which White Noise can be compared and contrasted. Thanks very much in advance! :-)

I have not read it. Can you anyone help out?
